This is the question we will explore in our CLE² class over the coming months.  We posed the question to our class this week, and are now reading and thinking about this question.  Teachers and students, please post your thoughts on what this means to you.  Do we all have the same idea?

I tend to think of engineering as working in the lab developing tools, products, or other items. In that sense, a global engineer is someone who thinks about the global market while developing. Some examples that first come to mind are: the application green energy. How to aide in reducing global warming. The ease of understanding/usage in other countries. Possible benefits for both first and 3rd world countries.

I tend to think of a global engineer as someone who can work with and for other people. Whether it's your customer or your colleague, a global engineer will have people who come from a different culture and background to interact with, and they need to be able to effectively communicate in order to get the job done. Empathy and understanding for others is one of the major hallmarks of a global engineer.

I think a global engineer is an engineer who thinks globally, meaning they think about similarities between peoples and nations in terms of common challenges and human culture, and they also explore and appreciate differences between people and nations, including inequality of access to resources, knowledge and wealth. Global thinking enables engineers to be creative in how they solve problems and sensitive in their interaction with people from different backgrounds and cultures.

I tend to think of a global engineer as someone who use the ability acquired effectively in working and interacting with other people using foreign languages. It is important to know well each other at first, otherwise we cannot make good things.

I think a global engineer is someone who works for making our life better. Even if we Japanese work in Japan countryside, if it is for making something for the better world I think that is one of the global engineers, not only someone who work in a big city or overseas.

I guess global engineers are helping people in other countries and they are always looking to solve global problems.
Also global engineers produce something to help countries by meeting other global engineers.

I agree with Ana because before working with other people from different country, they should know about each other. Then we can know about what their thinking. So I think that is the best way to be a global engineering.

I think global engineer can help someone who have the big problem in the world
because they can discuss deeply with each other.
For example: How do solve about the problem? What the main problem? What is the biggest problem?....

I think it means people who can work in a team and share ideas. When engineers are making something, they should help each other. So they need to have communication to have good relationship.

I tend to think of a global engineer as someone who can think about world problems.
for example, global warming or the water crisis.
In japan we don't think about water.
So let's think about it.

I think global engineers help developing countries because global engineers know that how can make something also they make something easily so they can help the country's economy develop easily. For example, a solar panel.
